Showcasing 4-H and FFA Youth
Over 30 non-profits are “ bombing” the trees on State Fair Boulevard, Fonner Park, Grand Island, Ne. What’s this all about? We’ve taken the opportunity to partner with area nonprofits to create something fun, interesting and a little bit crazy to bring more awareness to their organizations, provide a stunning grand entrance to Nebraska State Fair’s 4-H and FFA State Championships, and a beautiful attraction for all to tour and enjoy. Area nonprofits signed up and were assigned a tree to decorate, or “bomb”. They have until July 31 to complete, and the installations will stay up till Oct. 1, following the Aksarben Stock Show, September 24-27. A true “ bombing” happens with no warning but we’re doing it a bit different. But what about the trees, this can’t be good for them?! These bombing installations have been done around the world at events and festivals, but we are the very first State Fair to do it as a unique attraction. There are rules involved for the protection of all our trees, and as long as the installations are not up over 18 months, they pose no threat to our beautiful path of trees. There are approximately 10 trees still available to be claimed, contact Laura Hurley, Lhurley@statefair.org for more details. There is no entry fee for organizations to participate, and the benefits are the heightened awareness for their cause, fun and exciting group activity, and great prizes provided by these sponsors: Anderson Auto, Bosselmans, Case IH and Copycat Printing.
