Grand Island Ready
Although representatives of the City of Grand Island have fielded some negative comments about the Nebraska State Fair's move from Lincoln to their city next year, fairgoers have generally been positive, they said Saturday.

Nebraska State Fair Opening Weekend Brings Huge Crowds and Great Weather
A first-ever Grandstand concert, fireworks show, Latino Festival, and fall-like weather brought impressive crowds to opening weekend of the 140th Nebraska State Fair. Attendance for the weekend totaled 103,073, an 18.92 percent increase over the 2008 opening weekend.

New Midway at Nebraska State Fair Offers Bigger Thrills For All Ages
Starting Friday, August 28, screams, cheers, and laughter will echo through State Fair Park from the new midway at the 140th edition of the Nebraska State Fair. The new midway, provided by Belle City Amusements, Inc., will include traditional rides, such as the Scrambler and Carousel, and will also offer some new, bigger thrills.

The State Fair Celebration Kazoo Band Kicks Off the 2009 Nebraska State Fair
One thousand clever kazoos and a whole lot of hand clapping kick off the 140th edition of the Nebraska State Fair. The celebration begins at the Opening Ceremony on Friday, August 28, at 6:00p.m. in the intersection of the main streets.

Nebraska Farm Bureau presents the Grand Celebration Parade On Final Day of the 2009 State Fair
Hundreds of State Fair parades have marched down the streets of State Fair Park since 1901. In September, mascots, beauty queens, performing acts, and long-time fair favorites will converge for the finale to the 140th edition of the Nebraska State Fair and the last parade in the host city of Lincoln.
The Nebraska State Fair is working with Clarke Design of Lincoln to create a permanent historical museum in the new State Fair facilities in Grand Island.

Nebraska State Fair Offers Free Off-site Parking and Free Shuttle Service In addition to the free parking offered at the Nebraska State Fair grounds, State Fair guests can park their cars for free at two off-site locations, including Bed, Bath and Beyond on North 27th Street and the North 27th Street Plaza (the old Payless Cashway/Rod Kush furniture store/currently the Center For People In Need) at 3901 N 27th Street.
