Tips to Your Best Fair

Here are a few suggestions to make your trip to the Nebraska State Fair enjoyable :

Plan Your Day

The Nebraska State Fair (NSF) offers hundreds of events throughout the eleven-day State Fair. The "Create Your Day" event tool will help you plan and maximize your time at the Nebraska State Fair. Click here, to access the “Create Your Day” event calendar.

The NSF mobile app offers many features to assist you in planning your day, including a personalized schedule. Click here for more information on the NSF mobile app!

Arrive Early

Allow some time at the beginning of your day for parking and entering the fairgrounds. Depending on traffic for the day, it can take between 15 and 45 minutes. Arrive at the Fair as early as you can to give yourself plenty of time to get set for the day. Parking is FREE!

Take note of where you parked

Whether your day at the NSF will last a few hours or the entire day, take a minute to familiarize yourself with your surroundings when you arrive to avoid confusion when you depart. Take a note of which gate you enter and the parking lot in which you park.

The NSF mobile app provides a parking feature which allows you to mark your vehicle location and then find it again at the end of the day, using gps navigation! Click here, for information on the NSF mobile app.

Check the weather report

Despite the continuously changing Nebraska weather, the show will go on. Be prepared with sunscreen and visors on sunny days, have a jacket or sweatshirt for cool evenings, and carry a rain coat or umbrella in case the skies turn gray.

Wear comfortable footwear

There are over 500 venders, countless entertainment acts, and many other activities that span 240 acres at the NSF. Make sure your shoes are made for walking!

Leave coolers, picnic baskets, and unnecessary items at home

No bottles, cans, coolers, or picnic baskets are permitted on the grounds. The NSF does not offer any kind of storage or locker system.

Leave pets at home

Pets are not permitted on the NSF grounds or in the NSF campground. Please do not leave pets unattended in vehicles. Click here, for a list of area pet shelters.

Wash your hands

For your health and safety, the NSF strongly urges you to wash your hands throughout the day, especially after visiting animal areas and barns, and prior to eating. Restrooms are located in all NSF buildings. Hand washing stations are available by the petting zoo and in the Birthing Pavilion. This will help stop the spread of potential diseases.

Bring your camera

There will be plenty of memorable moments, so bring your camera and capture the special day forever. Please note: Professional cameras and recording devices are not permitted at NSF concerts unless approved by the NSF and the artist’s management.

Come hungry

Ribs, chicken, corn dogs, cotton candy, candy apples, elephant ears, and much more are available throughout the fairgrounds.

Lost?

Once inside the Fair, establish a meeting place in the case your group becomes separated. The NSF suggests the Welcome Center as a meeting location. You may seek assistance at any of the information booths located on the grounds. Please contact any State Fair staff, volunteer, State Patrol Officer, or security officer on site if you are missing children and/or adults.

Get a Hand Stamp

If you are leaving the NSF and plan to come back later, be sure to get a hand stamp as you are exiting the gate. This will allow you to re-enter the NSF later on.

State Fair Cares - Recycling

Trash containers and recycling receptacles are available throughout the fairgrounds. Give us a hand, and pitch in.

Come back again! Each day at the Nebraska State Fair brings new and different activities and entertainment.
