The 2009 Nebraska State Fair free concert line-up

brings the best of the past and looks to the future.

The open air concerts begin at 7:00 pm and are FREE with a paid gate admission,

presented by the Nebraska Lottery and co-sponsored by Bristol Windows

and Lincoln Benefit Life.

This year brings 2 concerts in the grandstand.

The grandstand concerts begin at 8:00pm and require a $12.00 admission ticket.

Does not include outside gate admission.

Daryl Hall and John Oates "Up Close and Personal Tour"

and

Montgomery Gentry.

Admission to the grandstand concerts is $12.00 in addition

to an $8 paid gate admission to the fair.

Lee Ann Womack

Friday, August 28 - 7:00pm

Opening Act "Ashton Jackson"

Lee Ann Womack has produced numerous hits including, “I May Hate Myself In the Morning,” “The Fool,” and “I Hope You Dance.” Her seventh and most impressive outing to date in a career full of great music is “Call Me Crazy.” The album contains four songs co-written by Womack including “New Again,” “Have You Seen That Girl,” and “If These Walls Could Talk.” The album’s debut single is “Last Call.”

Signed to Atlantic by Ahmet Ertegan and managed by Tommy Mottola in the 1970’s, Hall & Oates have sold more albums than any other duo in music history. From the mid-’70s to mid-’80s, the duo would score six #1 singles, including “Rich Girl” (also #1 R&B), “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) (also #1 R&B), “Maneater” and “Out of Touch” from six consecutive multi-platinum albums.

 

REO Speedwagon

REO Speedwagon has produced number one hits including, “Can’t Fight This Feeling,”  “Keep On Loving You,” and “Roll With the Changes.” The band released their latest album, Find Your Own Way Home, in 2007. It is their first studio collection of new material in more than a decade. REO has toured every year since its inception in 1971, returning to their fans in “small town America” at the beginning of the century. “These are the people who supported our music from the beginning. This is REO country,” says Kevin Cronin, REO’s lead vocalist.

Singer, songwriter, producer, director and actor are just some of the titles Bret Michaels has claimed. As the front man for the legendary rock band Poison, Michaels has had 15 Top 40 singles including, “Talk Dirty to Me,” “Something to Believe In,” and “Every Rose Has its Thorn.” He released his debut solo album, Songs of Life, in 2003 and another album, Freedom of Sound, in 2005.

 

 

Newsboys

Opening Act "No Better Cause"

The Australian native Newsboys have produced fourteen albums. Their most recent album, Go, features the songs “Beautiful” and “Wherever We Go.” Go, though pop in structure and sensibility, is a very rhythmic approach to the Newsboys sound. Beat, bass and melody drive these songs with subtleties of urban influence. The Christian band has opened for other renowned bands such as REO Speedwagon, James Brown, and Styx. They have performed all around the world including Morocco and Israel.

 

Randy Travis

Thursday, September 3 - 7:00pm

Randy Travis has sold more than 21 million records and is one of the ten top-selling solo country artists of all time. The Christian and country artist, has won countless awards from the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, the Gospel Music Association, the American Music Awards, and the Grammy Awards. His most recent album, Around the Bend, was released in 2008.

 

Montgomery Gentry

Grandstand

Sunday, September 6 - 8:00pm (requires $12.00 ticket)

Now in their 10th year on the national stage, Montgomery Gentry has released more than 20 charted singles, with anthems like “My Town” and “Hell Yeah” becoming indelible parts of the honky-tonk landscape. They have hit the top of the singles charts three times, with “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” “Something To Be Proud Of,” and “Lucky Man.” Their latest album, Back When I Knew It All, features the hit singles “Back When I Knew It All” and “Roll With Me."

 

John Kay & Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf originated in the 1960’s with their debut album being released in 1968. At last count, the band’s worldwide record sales exceed 25 million units. Its songs remain fixtures on classic-rock radio, and have been licensed for use in approximately 50 motion pictures and an even greater number of television programs.
