Discover and experience the many interactive educational activities at the 2010 Nebraska State Fair.

Barn Tours

Experience a barn tour and learn more about the livestock and animals seen in Nebraska farms and ranches. Tours will begin inside the entrance area of the Ag Arena building.

Combine "Ride Along" with Case IH Combines and New Holland Combines

Fonner Park Race Track

Case IH Axial-Flow combines are engineered for simplicity and reliability. The plant employees are proud to manufacture these products right here in Grand Island, Nebraska! Case IH invites guests of all ages to participate in a Case IH Axial-Flow combine "Ride-Along" while at the Fair!

This year marks the 35th anniversary since the introduction of the New Holland Twin Rotor combine. The Grand Island Plant employees would like to invite guests of all ages to celebrate with New Holland by participating in a combine "Ride Along" while at the Fair!

Cornhusker Fly Fishers

August 28th & 29th from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Kidz Zone

Ever wanted to learn how to fly fish? Now's your chance! Learn how to tie fishing flies onto lines and presentations throughout the day to help kids lern how to cast a fly fishing rod.

4-H Fairport

4-H & FFA Building & Kidz Zone

Experience the connection between 4-H and technology at the nationally recognized 4-H Fairport (formerly known as 4-H Cyber Fair). Through the use of hands-on cutting edge technology exhibits, guests are encouraged to explore and interact with exhibits in the areas of animal science, communication and expressive arts, consumer and family science, healthy lifestyles, environment education and earth science, leadership and citizenship, plant science, and science and technology.

American Dairy Association & Dairy Council of Nebraska's Fuel Up to Play 60 Fitness Zone

Sunday, August 29th - 1:00pm - 3:30pm, Kidz Zone

Come join Nebraska's Dairy Farmers in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Kidz Fitness Zone. Kids will have the opportunity to fuel up with icy cold milk and get active in an obstacle course featuring former Husker and Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch.  Eric will speak at 1:00pm and 2:30pm. Experience the obstacle course at 1:15pm and 2:45pm.

Hedrick's Animal Petting Zoo and Camel & Pony Rides

Kidz Zone

Take a ride on a camel or pony and try petting and feeding exotic animals.

Nebraska's Largest Classroom

Thursday, September 2 - Located throughout the fairgrounds

Nebraska’s Largest Classroom is a self-guided field trip where students and teachers have the opportunity to enjoy all the hundreds of exhibits and grounds entertainment that are intended to educate, entertain, and encourage lifelong learning.  Public and home schools are invited to participate in Nebraska’s Largest Classroom.  In the past, approximately 2,500 students, K-6th grade, and teachers that represent over 80 public, private, and home schools have attended this event.

Livestock Birthing Pavilion

Sheep Barn

The Livestock Birthing Pavilion is a large-animal birthing area, a farrowing area and a poultry hatching area giving State Fair guests the opportunity to witness live animal births, overseen by trained professionals from the University of Nebraska Pre-Vet Medicine Program. 

PEPSI MAX NASCAR Simulator brought to you by your Grand Island HyVee

4-H& FFA Building

Experience the thrill of a race car with the PEPSI MAX NASCAR Simulator! This Top End Racing simulator is an actual race car that has been specially modified for a computer simulation, so the driver has all of the excitement of racing in an actual race car. This is the race car the pro’s train in! The car reacts to the drivers' action.

  • The car reacts to the drivers' action.
  • Turn the steering wheel to follow the track.
  • Brake and you will slow down.
  • Step on the gas and you accelerate.
  • Steering has full force feed back along with seat vibration.

Monitors are set up outside for viewing equipped with screen on screen displaying for both driver and spectator.

Stuhr Museum

Kidz Zone

All the fun of Stuhr Museum’s 1890’s Living History Railroad Town comes to the Nebraska State Fair. The museum that brings the story of Nebraska’s first towns to life feature dozens of hands-on, historical and artistic activities in the State Fair’s Kids Zone, including live blacksmithing, Native American beadwork, baking over an open fire, and much more. The Fiber Glass Milking Cow

Exhibition Building
